Somila is now 29 and after a highly successful college career he made a smooth transition into 1st class cricket with a run of high scores cementing his place in the Border 1st class set up. However it was in the last 2 seasons where Somila has really shot to prominence in the last 2 seasons starting with 2 games for Border in which he averaged 74.55 with 224 runs from 3 innings and a high of 101 this propelled him into the Warriors full franchise side where he did well enough to remain for the rest of the season. The result of this was selection for the South African National Academy for the Summer of 2015, he did so well that he was then picked for the South African Emerging Players tour to Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Titans Star Heinrich Klaasen in 2016. Somila did extremely well with both bat and ball scoring 58,34 & 32 plus taking 1-17 off 10 and 1-34 off 14 with his very good seamers. He has started last season with a bang as well with a 45 ball 51 against Boland in the T20 and then a breezy 25 for the Warriors against the Titans in a One day game before going on to have another solid season in SA. Somila travelled to the UK for 2016 to play for Denton West C.C. in the Greater Manchester Premier League he had an excellent season despite the poor weather averaging 40 with the bat from only 15 innings and taking 30 wickets at 17 each, the club re-signed him for 2017 and again he delivered with 845 runs at 35 average and 43 wickets at 22 each,in 2018 Somila moved to Heyside C.C. in the GMCL he again excelled with both bat and ball in another top season. Stitch is now available and he is sure to be very popular for 2019 and will be extremely good value for League cricket.
