Shadley Van Schalkwyk – South Africa

Shadley van Schalkwyk is a Pace bowling all rounder  playing Full Franchise Cricket for the Knights.  He is a product of the famous Wynberg Boys’ High School, whose alumni includes Jacques Kallis and Allan Lamb. After impressing with the bat on a tour to Pakistan with his school side in 2006, he was drafted into the South African Academy. He made his List A debut for Western Province in February 2008, and played all games of the Eagles 2009 Pro20 series. He was part of their squad for the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 in 2009 and in the last 3 seasons has cemented his place in the Knights franchise team with consistent displays of high class right arm swing bowling coupled with very decent performances with the bat, his batting average is 27.89 which considering he bats in the lower order for the Knights is a great effort and his pacey swing bowling has brought him over 200 wickets across all 3 formats of the game and his 1 day bowling average is a brilliant 22.64, all these prove that Shadley Van Schalkwyk is indeed a serious talent.  Shadley came to the UK in 2012 to play in the Famous Lancashire League for Colne C.C. and despite enduring a horrific weather in the North West of England he still posted impressive figures with 600 runs at an  average of 30.05 and 60 wickets at the excellent average of 16.12 each, these figures prompted Colne to quickly re-sign Shadley for 2013 and their faith was rewarded with Van Schalkwyk returning even better stats that summer with 1028 runs at 44.69 and 45 wickets at  27 each. Shadley is an accredited ECB Level 2 coach and is  very enthusiastic in this field having spent many hours coach both Seniors and Juniors at Colne C.C. over the last 2 seasons, he made a fantastic impression at the Lancashire League Club during his stay there, showing ultimate professionalism, a terrific attitude and work ethic in Coaching + Training and along with his outstanding performances it wasn’t long before Heyside C.C. signed him for 2014 and Shadley kept up his impressive UK Stats with in excess of 1200 runs and over 80 wickets during and outstanding UK Season,he returned in 2015 and racked up another impressive haul of wickets and runs and in 2016 made the journey to St Annes C.C. and recorded another highly impressive set of stats, the Vernon Road Club re-signed him for 2017 but he was unable to travel, in 2018 Shadley played for Armagh C.C. in Ireland and had a magnificent season with608 runs averaging 40 from just 15 innings he also snapped up 20 wickets at 18 each from only 90 overs bowled.
