Kelly Smuts has long been regarded as one of the hottest talents in South African Cricket, he has yet to blossom into the International Cricketer that many believe him to be but he is a terrific genuine all rounder, he first came to prominence in 2007/8 when he was selected for South Africa’s Under 19 team and whilst he made only a limited impact in 3 games it was clear to see the ability he had. His 1st class debut for Eastern Province came in October 2009 and he opened the batting making a solid 35 not out and 26 an outstanding season then followed with a string of high scores resulting in promotion to the Warriors Full Franchise Side in December 2010 against the Knights, It really could not have gone much better as Kelly announced himself to Franchise Cricket with a superb unbeaten century off just 145 balls with 10 fours and a six he is a fluent shotmaker who hits a heavy ball and a very good seamer ideally suited to UK Conditions. Kelly has a 1st class batting average of 32 with 14 centuries and 20 fifties to his name with a high score of 175 and best bowling of 5-10 he has close to 200 wickets across the 3 formats at a combined average just under 24. He had a season with Morecambe C.C. in the powerful Northern Premier League he scored over 1000 runs averaging 52.25 and 68 wickets at an average of 14.5 each. He also has had other stellar seasons in the UK recently most notably at Rishton C.C. in the Lancashire League where he again smashed the 1000 run mark and took over 60 wickets. A genuine gun all rounder who will be much sought after in 2022.
