Ernest is a highly talented opening Batsman who plays 1st class cricket for the Easterns Province in South African Domestic Cricket. Ernest has currently played 12 1st class games and has racked up 747 runs at an average over 39  with a high score of 135 and he already has 2 other centuries and 3 more scores over 50 in his short career to date. His maiden century was a brilliant innings coming against the powerful Kwa Zulu Natal outfit and came with his side in deep trouble with a 1st innings deficit over 100 and staring defeat in the face, along with his opening partner Ernest completely wrested the initiative away from KZN and gave his captain the luxury of making a declaration. Earlier in his career Ernest represented Sussex 2nd XI as a 16yo in 2007 when playing in the UK with Havant CC. Ernest is also a very capable Left Arm Spinner who bowled regularly for his club TUKS C.C. and he would undoubtedly be an effective option with ball in UK Club cricket.Following the completion of his studies Ernest has turned his attention to Professional Cricket and he couldn’t have made a better start.  With an impressive batting average of 39.68 and a handful of wickets already he was undoubtedly a talented prospect for UK League Cricket in 2014 and he came over to play for Bready C.C. in the North West Cricket Union in Ireland and with almost 700 runs average 45 and 32 wickets from only 123 overs at an average of 14. In 2015 Ernie signed for Central Lancashire League side Middleton C.C. and with 6 games to go has 850 runs ave 46 and 72 wickets at 11 each topping the averages for the whole league, no shock then when Middleton Re-signed him for 2016 and despite a very poor season weather wise Ernie still managed to rack up 642 runs at 42 plus 40 wickets at 17 each, his performances attitude and work ethic led to Bacup C.C. swooping to secure his services for 2017, he didn’t let them down with a stunning debut season in the Lancashire. Ernest re-signed for the club for 2018 and racked up another 650 runs and took 55 wickets and is now looking for a new challenge in 2019.
